Locked on your phone
Every entry is encrypted on your device the moment you save it. The key that unlocks it is created on your phone and stays on your devices. We never have a copy.
End-to-end encrypted sync
When your diary backs up or syncs to your other devices, it travels and is stored as scrambled data. Our servers only hold information they can't read. That means not us, not a hacker, and not anyone who asks us for it.
AI on your phone
Your entries are only ever unlocked on your phone for the AI to read. Nothing is sent away to be processed, and your words never train AI models.
You're in control
Export everything as markdown or delete your account and all your data in one step. Only guides you choose to publish are public. Your entries never are.
AI that works for you, on your phone
Mirror Dear's AI runs on your phone itself, not on distant servers. It only starts when you tap an AI feature, such as "Talk it through" or "Generate summary".
Why that's good
- Private: your words never leave your phone to be processed, and they're never used to train AI models.
- Works anywhere: AI features work offline, on a train or a plane.
- Quick: no waiting for a server to reply.
- Sustainable for a free app: no big server bills, so we don't need ads or your data to keep going.
AI features need a recent phone. Everything else works on older phones too.

The one thing we can't do for you
Forgot your password? Reset it by email, as you would anywhere else. Your diary itself is unlocked by arecovery key that only you hold. You'll get it when you sign up, and you can save it to your phone's password manager or write it down. On a new phone, enter the key to unlock your diary.
Why
Because we can't read your diary, we can't unlock it without your key.
What we collect
Your email, basic account details, and anonymous app usage such as crashes and which screens are used. Never the content of your entries. You can switch off usage data in settings.
This website uses cookie-free analytics and sets no tracking cookies. If you ask us to email you a reflection from the try-it guide, we send it and keep nothing.
